Our vision is a world free of MND

Motor Neurone Disease Association

Hertfordshire Branch

The term, Motor Neurone Disease (MND), actually describes a group of related diseases affecting the nerves in the brain and spinal cord, which tell your muscles what to do. These nerves are known as motor nerves or motor neurones; the words 'nerves' and 'neurones' mean the same thing. As the nerves become damaged, the muscles they control weaken and waste. Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive, life limiting disease but the rate of progression varies greatly from one person to another. The cause of MND is not yet known, but a great deal of research work is currently being carried out. For information about the work of  the Association, and up-to-date information regarding the disease, care and research, please visit the National Office website at www.mndassociation.org
